Event details

A full day of bidding in aid of the resident welfare fund, held at 456 Creative Boulevard and open to everyone. Lots are donated by local businesses, families and residents themselves, and range from a weekend away to a jar of somebody's marmalade. Both sell.

• Doors and viewing from 8:00am, with the catalogue available a week in advance
• Travel experiences, restaurant vouchers and memorabilia donated by local businesses
• Absentee and telephone bidding for anyone who cannot attend on the day
• Refreshments served throughout, with proceeds added to the total

Entry is free for residents; guests are asked for ten pounds at the door, which is redeemable against any successful bid. Registration for a bidding number takes a couple of minutes and can be done in advance.

The welfare fund covers the things no budget line accounts for: a taxi to a funeral, a new pair of shoes, a phone contract for someone with nobody to arrange one. It is spent quietly and entirely.

Donations of lots are welcome up to a week beforehand. If you have something you think might raise fifty pounds, it almost certainly will — please get in touch.
